The 8VB mark is a single fluid form built from two paired S-curves that meet at opposing pinch points — top-right and centre-left. It embodies motion, convergence, and creative momentum. The wordmark pairs it with the Aeonik typeface in tracked Light weight.
Sweeps from the left pinch point upward and rightward, expanding into a generous convex curve. Connotes ambition, upward motion, creative reach.
The entry point — a sharp terminal where both lobes meet at the left edge. Signals precision and intentionality within fluid motion.
A second internal tension point at mid-right, where the form crosses itself. Creates the figure-8 logic inherent in the 8VB name.
Mirrors the upper form with an inversely curved, grounding sweep. Together the lobes suggest ongoing cycle — production, output, return.
Always maintain a minimum clear zone equal to the height of the "8" character in the wordmark on all sides of the mark.
The 8VB palette is built around tension between restraint and energy. Charcoal and White form the neutral core. Teal adds considered depth. Acid — used sparingly — is the brand's energetic pulse. Navy provides a rich dark-mode alternative.

The dominant colour of the brand. Used for all primary surfaces, the mark on light backgrounds, body type, and structural elements. Anchors visual weight.
The brand's energy signature. Used sparingly for emphasis, CTAs, highlight states, and the primary icon on dark backgrounds. Never used as a large background on its own for extended reading.
Used when a colour variant of the mark is needed without resorting to Acid. Works on white and off-white backgrounds. Signals professionalism and craft.
A refined dark-mode background. Used with Acid for high-impact applications: digital hero sections, event materials, large-format signage. Never substitute for Charcoal in print body layouts.
Aeonik is the primary typeface across all 8VB Studio communications. A contemporary geometric sans with subtle optical corrections that keep it warm at display scale. Noto Sans serves as the multilingual and digital fallback — ensuring coverage across all character sets.
Used wherever Aeonik cannot render the required character set. Noto Sans's comprehensive glyph coverage makes it the reliable fallback for Cantonese, Mandarin, Arabic, and other non-Latin scripts.
The 8VB visual language is built around the tension inherent in the mark itself — organic curves held in check by precise geometry. Large scale, generous whitespace, and a monochromatic base broken only by deliberate colour moments.
White or dark ground should always dominate. The mark and typography emerge from the field — they do not fill it. Aim for 60%+ open space in most compositions.
Compositions should imply movement — through crop, scale contrast, or typographic alignment. The mark's diagonal sweep sets the tone. Build layouts that feel like they're in motion.
Use extreme scale contrast between headline and body copy. One idea at a time. Avoid equal-weight compositions — something should always clearly lead.
Acid is used the way an editor uses italics — once per composition, to mark what matters most. It should surprise, not pattern-fill.
Aeonik headlines can anchor a layout without any imagery. Text-only executions are valid and encouraged — the typeface is strong enough to carry full pages.
The mark is designed to bleed. In large-format applications, allow the curves to extend beyond the frame — this is a feature, not an error.
All transitions use ease-in-out curves that mirror the S-curve of the mark. Avoid linear motion — everything should breathe. Suggested: cubic-bezier(0.4, 0, 0.2, 1).
Signature animations are slow. Logo reveals should run 800ms–1.2s. Fast cuts are used for edit rhythm, never for the brand identity itself. Confidence is never rushed.
When animating the mark, reveal via the pinch points — either drawing in from the left pinch outward, or morphing from a single point into the full form. Never spin or bounce.
Strong blacks and whites. Limited colour. Subject isolated from background. Shot with confidence and breathing room.
Wide aspect ratios preferred. Shallow depth of field for portraits. Environmental shots should feel considered, never stock.
Photography should not compete with brand colour. Process images to near-monochrome or limit saturation. The Acid and Teal colours own their space.
Core application contexts across digital, print, and environmental. Each maintains the same principles: generous space, confident scale, disciplined colour.
